MADISON, N.J. - Freshman forward
Karlie Gruccio's goal in the 62nd minute helped the Cabrini field hockey team to a 3-2 win against Frostburg State University on Sunday in the consolation game of the Drew University Tournament. The victory is the Cavaliers' first of the 2011 season.
Trailing 2-1 in the second half, senior forward
Stephanie Campanaro's first goal of the season pulled Cabrini even in the 59th minute. Just over three minutes following, Gruccio netted the decisive tally, finding the back of the cage for the second time this year.
Junior back
Taylor McGarvey deposited her first goal of the season in the 21st minute, handing the Cavaliers an early 1-0 advantage. Both teams registered 21 shots attempts.
Frostburg State's Colby Wright tied the game with 50 seconds remaining in the first half. Emily Watkins put FSU ahead in the 39th minute.
Junior goalkeeper
Vicky King totaled 10 saves for her first win of the season with the Blue & White. Maggie Edwards recorded 12 saves in the loss for Frostburg.
