RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini College field hockey team tallied a big win today as the Cavaliers handed Keystone College its first loss in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.  The 5-1 victory puts the Blue and White in a tie for first place in the conference at 5-1 in league play and 7-7 overall.

Today also marked the final regular season home game for Cabrini's seven seniors, Colleen Anastasi, Lindsey Atzert, Vicky King, Taylor McGarvey, Rita McKeown, Katie Savage and Kate Solewin.  The victory was the 42nd in their careers and 24th at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

Freshman Kerry Anne Farrell got the Cavaliers started in the 13th minute when Atzert found her on the right post for the rookie's eighth goal of the campaign.  Atzert posted her 10th goal of the season in the 30th minute when she made a quick restart after a Keystone penalty, firing the ball into the net.

Keystone's Hope Krolewski cut Cabrini's advantage in half in the 34th minute, but the Cavaliers responded immediately.   Less than 10 seconds later, Atzert recorded her team-leading 12th tally of the season and 32nd of her career.

The Cavaliers carried the 3-1 advantage into the halftime break.  The Blue and White outshot the Giants 7-2, led by two each by Atzert and sophomore Karlie Gruccio.  Cabrini also secured four first half penalty corners to Keystone's one.

Cabrini continued to exert its will on the game, controlling much of the second half action.  It paid off in the 54th minute as Savage found Gruccio on a penalty corner.  The sophomore stopped the ball then fired it into the net for her sixth goal of the season.

Two minutes later, Farrell recorded her ninth goal of the season when she converted another pass from Savage.

The Cavaliers held the Giants to just seven shots, half of their season average, while firing 14 of their own.  Atzert's six attempts led the club, as Farrell and Gruccio added three each.

Cabrini's junior goaltender Genevieve Paulin recorded three saves to secure her 18th career win.

Today's game also marked Cabrini's annual Play 4 the Cure game.  The Cavaliers are teaming with hundreds of teams throughout the country to use their love for field hockey with the fight against breast cancer.  The Blue and White wore pink warm-up shirts and sold t-shirts and ribbons to raise money for Susan G Komen for the Cure and the American Cancer Society.

The Cavaliers will return to action next Wednesday, October 24 as they travel to Immaculata University to face the Mighty Macs in Cabrini's CSAC regular season finale.  Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
