RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College field hockey team reclaimed its winning touch today at a rainy Edith Robb Dixon Field, as the Cavaliers topped Neumann University 5-1.  The victory improved the Blue and White to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

A pair of goals from both sophomore
Karlie Gruccio and senior
Lindsey Atzert led Cabrini to its fifth win in its last six matches.
The Knights jumped out to an early lead as sophomore Lindsey Spatola deflected a pass from senior Kelsey Mazur into the net.  The fourth minute goal was Spatola's fifth of the season.
That would be the only shot Neumann would take for the entire game, as Cabrini's pressure kept the ball in its offensive half of the pitch for much of the next 66 minutes.
The Cavaliers continued to force the pace of the game, finally tying the score in the 27th minute.  Senior
Rita McKeown found Gruccio for her first goal of the day.  Gruccio returned to score book in the 34th minute when senior
Katie Savage found her on a penalty corner.  Gruccio's goals give the sophomore three for the season.
The Blue and White carried the 2-1 lead into the halftime after dominating the stat sheet in the game's first 35 minutes.  Cabrini outshot Neumann 11-1 and secured nine penalty shots to the Knights' one.
Cabrini continued to exert its will after the break.  After being awarded a penalty stroke in the 48th minute, Savage stepped to the stroke and fired the ball into the upper right corner for her fourth goal of the year.  The goal marked Savage's third converted penalty stroke.
The Cavaliers extended their lead in the 60th minute when freshman
Kerry Anne Farrell's cross found Atzert in prime scoring position to convert her fifth goal of the season.  Just over five minutes later, Atzert doubled her scoring output for the day as junior
Erin McLaughlin found her in the middle of the scoring circle for her second goal of the day.
For the game, Cabrini fired 16 shots, including 13 on goal, to Neumann's one. The Cavaliers also attempted 12 penalty corners, while holding the Knights to just two.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Thursday when they welcome #3 The College of New Jersey to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
