IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Cabrini College field hockey team closed its CSAC regular season schedule with a bang, as the Blue and White topped Immaculata 5-2. The victory secures a 6-1 conference record for the Cavaliers and 8-7 overall.
With all league games complete, Cabrini finds itself embroiled in a three-way tie for first place with Gwynedd-Mercy College and Keystone College.
Senior
Lindsey Atzert, reigning ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Week, continued her strong play with another two goals and two assists. The senior has now scored at least two goals in five of Cabrini's last nine outings, totaling 32 points during that span.
Freshman
Kerry Anne Farrell joined Atzert with a pair of goals, both coming in the second half and assisted by Atzert.
Atzert's first goal came in the seventh minute when Farrell and Atzert worked a two-on-one to perfection as Atzert sent the ball into the goal. Just over a minute later, the senior scored her second of the day when she collected a rebound from a Farrell's shot and fired it into the goal.
Sophomore
Karlie Gruccio added to the lead in the 15th minute when she turned senior
Taylor McGarvey's centering pass into her seventh goal of the season.
Cabrini carried a 3-0 lead into the halftime break after outshooting Immaculata 9-1 in the opening 35 minutes.
The Blue and White continued its offensive display after the break as Farrell found the net less than five minutes into the stanza. In the 40th minute, Farrell collected an Atzert pass off a penalty corner and fired it into the net for her 10th goal of her young career.
Less than two minutes later, Farrell deflected an Atzert shot into the net, giving the Cavaliers an insurmountable 5-0 lead.
Mary Beth Plastek and Lucy Leonard scored goals for the Mighty Macs in the final five minutes of the game.
Immaculata turned up their pressure in the second half, outshooting the Cavaliers 13-3 and securing eight penalty corners to Cabrini's three.

Kate Stevens, were up to the task, recording six saves in the win, including five in the second half.
The Cavaliers must wait to learn their CSAC postseason fate and will travel to Reading, Pa. on Saturday where they will close their regular season schedule with a non-conference at Alvernia University. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
