Field Hockey Downed by #3 TCNJ

Box Score

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team stood tough in the face of the No. 3 ranked The College of New Jersey Lions but three second half goals doomed the Cavaliers, as they fell 5-1.  The non-conference loss drops the Blue and White to 5-6 on the season.

TCNJ opened the scoring in the 14th minute as sophomore Victoria Martin found senior Camille Passucci for the goal.  The score remained 1-0 until the final
seconds of the first half.

The Lions secured four consecutive penalty corners at the end of the half but the Cavaliers failed to clear the ball.  With no time on the clock, TCNJ senior Caitlyn
Jenkins got her stick on a loose ball in front of Cabrini's goal and poked it in, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead and momentum heading into the break.

The Lions added to their lead in the 46th minute as sophomore Erin Healy's pass found fellow sophomore Lauren Pigott in the scoring area for her first goal of the
season.

The Cavaliers responded in the 47th minute when junior Erin McLaughlin netted her second goal of the season.

TCNJ extended its lead in the 51st minute when senior Jillian Nelson scored her 16th goal of the campaign.  Martin's 54th minute tally iced the game for the Lions.

The Lions (10-0) outshot Cabrini 13-4 on the night and took 15 penalty corners to the Cavaliers' two.  McLaughlin and senior Lindsey Atzert recorded the Blue and White's two shots on goal.

Junior goaltender Genevieve Paulin posted three saves on the night.

The Cavaliers will return to Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Tuesday as they travel to Allentown, Pa. to face Cedar Crest College.  The action is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
