ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Cabrini field hockey team remained perfect in Colonial States Athletic Conference play with today's 7-3 win at Cedar Crest College. While the win evens the Cavaliers' overall mark to 6-6, the Blue and White remains atop the CSAC standings with a 4-0 league record.
The Cavaliers wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard as senior
Lindsey Atzert score the first of her three goals on the day in the third minute of action. Atzert marked the score sheet again in the 14th minute on an unassisted tally.
In the 20th minute, Atzert found freshman
Kerry Anne Farrell for the rookie's sixth goal of the season. Just over a minute later, Farrell added to her goal total with an unassisted goal. The Cavaliers extended their lead to 5-0 in the 23th minute when sophomore
Karlie Gruccio found the back of the net.
The Blue and White outshot the Falcons 24-7 as they built the five goal lead. Cedar Crest goaltender Lindsay Harrison recorded 10 saves in the opening 35 minutes of action.
Just over nine minutes into the second half, Atzert completed her fourth career hat trick when she converted a pass from junior
Erin McLaughlin. After the Falcons marked the score book, McLaughlin found Farrell for the rookie's first career multi-goal game.
On the day, the Blue and White outshot the Falcons 34-14 and recorded 13 penalty corners to Cedar Crest's eight. Eight of those shots came from Atzert, while Farrell and Gruccio fired seven and six shots, respectively.

The victory sets up Saturday's big matchup between the Cavaliers and Gwynedd-Mercy College in a rematch of the 2011 CSAC championship game. The tilt is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
