Stevens Snaps Field Hockey Win Streak

Box Score

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College field hockey team had its four game win streak snapped tonight by Stevens Institute of Technology.  The Cavaliers fall to 4-5 on the season after tonight's 3-1 loss.

Stevens' Chelsea Cresci opened the scoring in the 15th minute.  The Cavaliers immediately responded, tallying the equalizer in the 18th minute.

Senior Lindsey Atzert fired a shot that freshman Kerry Anne Farrell redirected into the net.  The goal was the rookie's fourth of the season.

The game remained tied at one as the teams went into halftime. Much like the score board, the game was very even after 35 minutes.  Stevens out shot Cabrini by one shot 6-5 and had a two penalty corner advantage, 5-3.  The Cavaliers' junior goaltender Genevieve Paulin was strong in goal with five first half saves.

Both teams continued to press the issue after the half, as they continued to generate excellent scoring chances.  Unfortunately, Cabrini could not find the right combination to return the ball to the net.

The Ducks' Jill Fiebel netted the eventual game-winner in the 50th minute.  Marguerite Chavez iced the game with a goal in the 58th minute.

Farrell and Atzert combined for seven of the Cavaliers' 12 shots on the night, including four of the five shots on goal.  Paulin finished the game with nine saves.

The Cavaliers will return to CSAC competition on Tuesday when they welcome Neumann University to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
