Box Score

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team stumbled in its first road test, falling 12-6 at No. 7 Dickinson College.  The loss drops the No. 5 Cavaliers to 1-1 on the young season.  Junior Joey Shallow and senior Bobby Thorp led the Cavaliers with two points each.

After a scoreless first 11:38, the Red Devils opened the scoring, netting a pair of goals prior to the end of the opening period.  Midway through the second quarter, Shallow put the Blue and White on the board with his first of the game, assisted by junior Corey Elmer. Just over two minutes later, sophomore Anthony DiSanzo took advantage of the man up opportunity, tying the game at two with an unassisted goal.  Dickinson took the game's momentum with a goal with 11 seconds on the clock, carrying a 3-2 lead into halftime.

After a first half dominated by defense, the Cavaliers struggeld to contain the Red Devils after the break.  Just over five minutes into the third quarter, Dickinson doubled its lead but the Blue and White had a response as senior Andrew Layne found fellow senior Andrew Protenic for his first tally of the season.   Dickinson added another goal with 6:53 left in the quarter but Shallow's second of the day left Cabrini down 5-4 with just under five minutes to play in the third.  The Red Devils built a bit of a cushion with a pair of goals to close the third period with a 7-4 lead.

Thorp found the net less than 30 seconds into the final quarter before Dickinson responded with a pair of scores for a 9-5 advantage.  With 11:10 to play, Thorp found Damian Sobieski for the sophomore's third goal of the season.  Just when it looked as though the Cavaliers would mount a comeback, Dickinson added three goals to seal the game.

Junior Erick Zarzecki posted 13 saves for the Cavaliers.

Christian Beitel and Brian Cannon led the Red Devils (3-0) with two goals and an assist, each.

The Blue and White will face its second of four consecutive road tests on Saturday as it visits No. 3 Lynchburg College (2-0).  Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
