RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team extended its conference win streak to 92 consecutive regular season wins with today's 27-2 victory over the visiting Rosemont Ravens. The win improves the Cavaliers to 7-3 on the year and 2-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
The Blue and White had everything working on both sides of the field tonight, as 17 players notched the goal column, led by junior
Joey Shallow's career high 10 points, on four goals and six assists. Senior
Bobby Thorp matched a season high with six points, while junior
Corey Elmer and sophomore
Ethan Heisman added five points each.
As a team, the Cavaliers recorded 26 assists on its 27 goals, fired 81 shots, including 49 shots on goal, and secured 75 ground balls while holding the Ravens to just 10 shots, five on goal.
Senior
Andrew Layne opened the scoring 2:19 into the action with his fourth tally of the season. Fellow senior
Andrew Protenic matched Layne with his fourth goal of the season at the 9:18 mark when he converted a Heisman pass. Elmer recorded his 50th career goal at the 8:35 mark, just 31 before scoring his second goal of the game. The first of Thorp's tow scores on the day came with 5:36 left in the first on a feed from Protenic.
Fourteen seconds later, Thorp found Heisman for the rookie's first of two goals on the day. Elmer completed his hat trick at the 4:34 mark after redirecting a pass for senior defenseman
Andrew Kvech. Junior
Matt Biegel scored his first of the season with 3:44 left in the opening period. Heisman's second came with 68 seconds remaining in the first, extending Cabrini's lead to 9-0.
Sophomore
Damian Sobieski scored Cabrini's 10th goal of the game 74 seconds into the second period. Sophomore
Eric Streicher recorded his third goal of the season just 32 seconds later. Thorp added to the lead with his second score of the game with 10:52 to play before the half. Freshman
Jake Donohoe scored his first career goal at the 7:38 mark of the period.
Shallow recorded two of his four goals in succession late in the period before freshman
Cole Campbell scored the first goal of his career with seven seconds left in the half. After 30 minutes of play, the Blue and White held a 16-0 lead.
The break did nothing to slow the Cavaliers, as sophomore
Kevin MacQuilliam posted his fifth goal of the year. Less than 20 seconds later, freshman Bruce
Overbay tallied his first career goal. Fellow rookie
John Motto tallied his second career goal at the 10:44 mark. Overbay and Donohoe scored their second of the game before freshman
C.J. Penberthy scored his first career goal.
Rosemont finally broke through, scoring a man-up goal with 26 seconds left in the period, but the Blue and White responded, as sophomore faceoff specialist
Anthony DiNenno controlled the faceoff and found Shallow six seconds later, extending the lead to 23-1 after three quarters.
Macquilliam posted his second of the night 84 seconds into the final period, 40 seconds before Rosemont scored its second of the night. Freshmen
Bobby Layden and
Kyle Bush recorded their first career goals late in the game, before Shallow closed the scoring with 4:03 to play.
DiNenno won a career best 22 faceoffs and scooped a career high 12 ground balls. The Blue and White forced a season-high 18 turnovers, including three each by Grau, Shallow and senior defenseman

Kevin Gallagher combined for three saves in the win.
Freshman goaltender Brody Safranek tallied 22 saves for the Ravens (1-11, 0-3 CSAC). Fellow rookie Stephen Licata scored both of Rosemont's goals on the night.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, as they welcome the Marywood University Pacers to Edith Robb Dixon Field as the second half of a CSAC lacrosse doubleheader. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m. following Cabrini's women's lacrosse game against Centenary College.
