HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Cabrini field hockey team hit the road today to face Stevens Institute of Technology and fell to the Ducks 7-3. The nonconference loss drops the Cavaliers to 2-63 on the season.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, the Ducks quickly grabbed the game's momentum as they netted three goals in a seven minute span. The Cavaliers finally marked their score sheet in the 31st minute as sophomore
Kerry Anne Farrell found fellow sophomore Jenn Webb on the left post.
The Cavaliers cut the deficit to 3-2 in the opening seconds of the second half, as junior
Karlie Gruccio scored her second goal of the season just 17 seconds after halftime. Stevens increased its lead in the 46th minute, but the Blue and White again responded.
In the 55th minute, Farrell recorded her second helper of the day when she found Gruccio for the junior's second of the game, matching a career high. Stevens put the game away in the final 10:25, netting three goals in the final minutes.

Genevieve Paulin recorded 12 saves in the loss.
Marguerite Chavez led the Ducks (5-2) with four goals on four shots.
The Blue and White will return to play on Saturday when they open CSAC play with a visit from Notre Dame (Md.) University (0-3) as the open game of Homecoming 2013. Game time is slated for 11 a.m. at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
