Field Hockey Falls to Gettysburg 4-2

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini filed hockey team fell to 1-3 today after a 4-2 loss to Gettysburg College at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

The Blue and White didn't waste much time initiating the offense, as junior Karlie Gruccio found sophomore Jen Webb in front of the net for the sophomore's fourth tally of the season.

The Bullets rallied netting goals in the 24th and 27th minutes to take a 2-1 lead. Gettysburg's lead was short lived as sophomore Kerry Anne Farrell found the back of the net less than a minute after the Cavaliers fell behind.

While the Bullets dominated the shot category in the opening 35 minutes of play with a 14-5 advantage, the score board remained tied entering the second half of play.

Gettysburg regained the lead in the 39th minute as a Cabrini defensive miscue sent the ball into the goal. The Bullets increased its lead in the 54th minute, while holding the Cavaliers off the board in the second half.

Farrell and Webb accounted for seven of the Blue and White's eight shots on the game and three of its four shots on target. Senior goaltender Genevieve Paulin recorded 10 saves on the afternoon.

Junior Kellyanne Walley led the Bullets (3-0)with two goals on the day.

The Blue and White will face another tough test on Tuesday when it travels to Ewing, N.J. to face No. 10 The College of New Jersey (0-1).
