Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The No. 5 Cabrini men's lacrosse team took sole possession of first place in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with today's 17-6 win at Gwynedd Mercy University. The victory not only improves the Blue and White to 13-1 (5-0 CSAC), it marks Cabrini's 101st consecutive conference win, just one shy of tying the NCAA record.
Junior
Damian Sobieski led the Cavaliers with a career high seven goals in the win. Senior
Corey Elmer added eight points on three goals and five assists to move into third place on Cabrini's points and assists lists. Junior
Mike Leyden paired a goal and four helpers, while fellow junior
Anthony DiSanzo tallied four goals.

Anthony DiNenno won 17 of his 24 chances at the faceoff spot and scooped six ground balls. Sophomore
Dan Hopson secured four ground balls. Senior
JoJo Cooper forced a career high three turnovers on the day. Freshman goaltender
Hank Altschuler earned the victory with 10 saves.
Gwynedd Mercy jumped out to an early lead, scoring in the game's first minute. It took a few minutes for the Cavaliers to find their footing before building a 3-1 lead on goals by Elmer, sophomore
Enrique Montoya and Leyden.
The Blue and White extended its scoring run to five unanswered goals, as Sobieski and DiSanzo opened the second quarter with goals. The Griffins snapped the run with a goal at the 10:18 mark, but 70 seconds later Elmer tallied his second goal of the afternoon. Sobieski's second goal of the game came with 5:40 left in the half and extended the Blue and White's lead to 7-3, one it would carry into the break.
Cabrini put some distance between itself and the Griffins in the third quarter. Sobieski completed his hat trick at the 11:28 mark. Later in the period, DiSanzo, Sobieski and Elmer added goals in a three minute span late in the period, building Cabrini's lead to 11-3 after three quarters.
Sobeski returned to the score book just 17 seconds into the third quarter, extending Cabrini's scoring streak to six unanswered goals. Gwynedd Mercy snapped the scoring streak but DiNenno won the ensuing faceoff and found Sobieski for a goal just five seconds later.
Elmer recorded consecutive assists, as he found Montoya and DiSanzo for goals in a 50 second span midway through the fourth. The Cavaliers closed the game with another set of quick goals, as DiSanzo and Sobieski found the net within seven seconds.
Mason Risner led the Griffins (8-4, 4-1 CSAC) with two goals and an assist.
The Cavaliers will close their regular season on Thursday as they welcome Centenary College (5-8, 2-3 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field. Cabrini will celebrate the careers of its nine seniors as it looks to tie the NCAA record for consecutive conference wins.
