PERRY, N.Y. –
A pair of Cabrini men's lacrosse student-athletes have been honored for their achievements in the classroom.  Seniors JoJo Cooper and Corey Elmer were recently named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-Americans.  The Scholar All-Americans will be recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-American Banquet to be held this weekend in Baltimore.

The duo becomes the sixth and seventh Cavaliers to earn the honor since 2009 and marks the third consecutive season Cabrini student-athletes have been honored.

Cooper, who earned USILA All-American Honorable Mention, graduated on Sunday with a degree in Finance.  The Davidsonville, Md. native's 38 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers were both tied for sixth on the team, while he added 10 points to Cabrini's offense.

Elmer, the program's first two-time USILA First Team All-American, recently completed his degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion.  Elmer ranked second in the nation in points per game (6.05), fifth in assists per game (2.95) and 19th in goals (3.11), while his 115 points and 56 assists are the most in a single season in program history, making him the only Cavalier to surpass 100 points or 50 goals in a season.

A Student-athlete must be a senior in academic standing and achieve a 3.0 grade point average to be considered for the honor.  He must also be an All-American, a member of the North/South All-Star team or an outstanding conference player, while behaving in a manner that brings credit to himself, his institution and to college lacrosse both on and off the field.

In 1989, the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves in the classroom as well as on the field. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III.

Cabrini posted a 17-2 mark during the 2014 season, capturing the program's 14th consecutive CSAC championship.  With a 6-0 league record, the Blue and White also tied an NCAA record with 102 consecutive conference victories.
