Scouting the Eagles
The Eagles enter today's contest as a bit of a mystery, as they have been very competitive in four of their six games thus far, but have also allowed 20+ runs in the remaining two games. They have made one thing very clear - they can put runs up on the scoreboard. Eastern is averaging eight runs per game thus far and are showing no signs of stopping after scoring double-digit runs in their previous four games leading up to Wednesday's matchup.Â
Offensively, the Eagles are led by Timmy Gorton who is batting at a .480 clip in the early going. The junior leads the team in batting average, runs (9), hits (12), RBI's (11), and Slg% (.640). Ryan Kehr has had an impressive start to season on the mound for the Eagles as he has logged a team high 10.0 innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs and has picked up 12 strikeouts.Â
Cabrini Last Time Out: Defeated by Waynesburg 8-7 (3/3/17)
In a game filled with ups and downs, the Cavaliers couldn't hold off the Jackets of Waynesburg as they overcame a 7-2 deficit fueled by the Cav's six errors.
Mike Kaczenski toed the rubber for the Blue and White in the team's final game of their spring break trip against the Jackets and delivered with a solid four innings, allowing just four hits and two earned runs, while also picking up three strikeouts.Â
Erick Vicario finished the game 2-5 with a three RBI double and also came around to score once.Â
Eastern Last Time Out: Defeated by Hilbert 23-10 (3/4/17)
The Eagles gave up eight unearned runs in the fifth inning and 15 unearned runs overall, thanks to seven errors, in the loss to the Hilbert College Eagles. Hilbert scored at least two runs in the fourth - eighth inning to win convincingly.Â
Gorton paced the Eagles offensively, going 4-5 with three runs scored and three RBI's.Â
