Baseball Aims to Get Back On Track With Series Against Pacers

Scouting the Pacers (10-19 overall, 5-10 CSAC)
The Pacers enter today's contest riding a two game winning streak as they took the end cap of a double header against Immaculata (9-5) and toppled the Monarch's of King's College, 12-8. Marywood's offense has been especially hot lately as they have scored at least nine runs in three of their last six games. 

Speaking of offense, the Pacers are led offensively by Vince Rebar. The graduate student is hitting an impressive .455 with three home runs and 31 RBI's over the course of the team's 29 games. Rebar currently sits atop the CSAC in batting average and is second in the conference in RBI's. 

On the mound the Pacers are led by staff ace James Goetz who owns a 3-3 record and sports a 3.68 ERA across 44 innings. 

Cabrini Last Time Out: Lost to Eastern 8-3 (4/26/17)
Michael Rodriguez got the nod as the starter for the Blue and White and cruised through two innings of work as the lefty faced eight batters and allowed just one hit. 

Vince Gares pushed across the first run for either team with a sac fly to center to score Joe Aurite in the top of the second.

Eastern would take a 6-3 lead in the fifth as they pushed across four runs off of five hits. They would add a single run in the sixth and seventh to cap the scoring at 8-3.

Colin Birzes (2-3, 1R, 1BB) and Dylan Butler (2-3, 1BB)  both turned in multi-hit performances on the day to pace the Cavs' offense while Gares (1-3, 2RBI) and Aurite (1-2, 1RBI, 1R) drove home the three runs for the Blue and White.

Marywood Last Time Out: Defeated Kin's 12-8 (4/26/17)
Jake Schuster and Rebar combined for seven RBI and Marywood University upended host King's College 12-8 in non-conference baseball action Wednesday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre Township.

Schuster was 2-for-4 and Rebar 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Schuster homered and Rebar tripled, while Matt Staback doubled for his only hit of the game.  For Schuster, it was his first long-ball of his collegiate career.

Nathan Michener (1-1) got the win for Marywood after two innings of middle relief work. Michener allowed just one hit and was one of six Pacer pitchers on the afternoon.
