Scouting the Cyclones (1-14)
To say it has been a rough start for the Cyclones would be an understatement as they are off to their worst start in program history, dating back to the 2002 season. Their .219 team batting average and .278 team OBP both rank last in the CSAC and things don't seem to be trending up either as they have managed just five runs over their last three games combined.
Centenary's pitching staff has struggled as well, as they are collectively pitching to the tune of an 8.14 ERA and allowing opposing batters to hit .345 against them, ranking them last in the CSAC in both categories.
Nick Daniele and James Graziani as two players to watch for the Cyclones, however as both have been key contributors to start the season. Daniele leads Centenary offensively with a .340 average and seven extra base hits, including the teams only home run. His .540 slugging percentage is nearly 200 points higher than the next batter.
Meanwhile, Graziani, the Cyclones top pitcher, has performed admirably through his teams first 15 games. The righty has logged a team high 22.1 innings over five starts and owns a team best 4.03 ERA.
Cabrini Last Time Out: Defeated by Immaculata 6-3 (4/31/17)
Starter
Jake Dohar had himself another solid outing as he picked up the quality start (7IP, 6H, 2ER, 2K), despite being strapped with the loss to draw his record even at 2-2. Four Cabrini errors accounted for two unearned runs on Dohar's line as well, giving the Blue and White a conference high 47 errors in 117 innings.
Eight different Cavs recorded one hit, with
Alex Del Giudice,
Casey Plunkett and Dohar each picking up an RBI.
Shaun Stackhouse (1SB) and
Tyler Norris (2SB) picked up their 10th and ninth stolen bases, respectively.
Centenary Last Time Out: Defeated by Keystone 13-4 (4/3/17)
Jon Fleck went 2-for-5 with two RBI's, while Kevin Sensale
went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored as the Centenary University baseball team dropped its series finale to Keystone College, 13-4.
The Giants led 7-0 entering the bottom of the third after scoring seven runs on nine hits, including three runs apiece in both the first and third innings. The Cyclones got on the board in the third with three runs on three hits to make it 7-3. Another run in the fourth cut the lead to 7-4, but keystone would tack on six additional runs over the remaining five innings to put the Cyclones away for good.
Starter Casey Brown took the loss as he lasted just two innings and allowed seven runs on nine hits.
