Scouting the Profs
Rowan capped their 2019 schedule with a strong 32-13 overall record, including a 14-4 mark in NJAC, and advanced to the NCAA Regional where they ultimately fell in double elimination to Washington and Jefferson College.

Fast forward to the 2020 season, the Profs look to pick up where they left off as they enter Saturday's matchup as the No. 23 ranked team in the country, according to D3Baseball.com.

Rowan opened the season with a tight 1-0 victory over Stevens Tech and topped regional opponent Immaculata University on Thursday by way of a 4-0 final. Pitching looks to be a strength for the Profs as they have yet to allow a run in 18 innings, while giving up just 12 hits and a .197 batting average against. Rowan's pitchers have also combined for 18 strikeouts in their two games, led by Drew Ryback's 11 K's in 12 innings pitched.

Offensively, the Profs have struggled out of the gate, despite the 2-0 start. Rowan hitters have posted a team batting average of .137, including just one extra base hit, while striking out 18 times. Trip McCaffrey has paced the offense in the early going with a .333/.429/.667 triple slash and has logged the team's only extra base hit via a triple.

Cabrini Last Time Out: No. 14 St. John Fisher 11, Cabrini 8 (2/29/20)
The Cardinals used a walkoff three run homer from Anthony Mantova to steal an 11-8 victory from the Blue and White.

Freshman Christian Strickland powered the offense with a team high three RBI's courtesy of a three run homer. Juniors Mack McKisson and Sean Bernardo tallied three hits and an RBI each, while senior Joe Aurite added his first homer of the year.

Senior Andrew Corso toed the rubber for his first start of the season and tossed four innings of two run (one earned) ball. Sophomore Griffin Hays was ultimately saddled with the loss after allowing the aforementioned walkoff homer.

McKisson led things off with an RBI single in the first to plate senior Shaun Stackhouse. The Cardinals would eventually respond as they pushed across two runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead.

The Blue and White would even things at five a piece thanks to a big seventh inning. After Stackhouse and junior Brendan Van Belle reached on an error and a single, respectively, Strickland launched his second homer of the year to trim the Cavs deficit to 5-4. A single from sophomore Joey Moyer served as the equilizer for the Cavaliers before the Cardinals escaped the inning without further damage.

The two teams traded runs in the bottom of the seventh and top of the eighth, respectively, until Cabrini grabbed a two run lead thanks to Aurite's first homer of the year.

St. John Fisher answered in the bottom of the ninth as they sent seven men to the plate and pushed across five runs to take the 11-8 final.

Rowan Last Time Out: Rowan 4, Immaculata 0 (3/5/20, story courtesy of RowanAthletics.com)
Drew Ryback struck out eight and Trip McCaffrey drove in two runs as #23 Rowan shut out Immaculata, 4-0, in non-conference baseball action.

Ryback (2-0) scattered four hits for his second shutout win this year, while Zach Listro struck out four in relief, and earned the save. McCaffrey was 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Mitch Walker scored one run and drove in another for the Profs.

Rowan jumped on the board immediately as leadoff batter Ryan McIsaac drew a walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nick Schooley, and scored on a single by Walker. Eric DiDomenico walked and McCaffrey connected on a two-run triple to give the Profs a 3-0 lead.

Rowan scored another in the fourth when Jared Marks bunted his way on base and scored when McIsaac reached first on an error and made it around to third to increase the lead to 4-0.

Immaculata threatened with two outs in the sixth when Joey Wright reached first on an error and moved to third on a single by Richard Fontanillas. But Ryback got Josh Crowding to ground out to second to end the inning.

The Mighty Macs stranded one runner on second base in the eighth, as Listro struck out three to keep the home team scoreless.
