Junior men’s basketball student-athlete Fran Rafferty has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 10. The junior helped the Cavaliers to a trio of conference wins last week, which clinched the top seed in next week’s CSAC Tournament.
Rafferty recorded 14.7 points and 4.7 rebounds, while shooting nearly 60% from the floor, including 10-16 from three point range, as the Blue and White captured wins at Cairn and at home over Gwynedd-Mercy and Rosemont.
In Monday’s 99-76 win at Cairn, Rafferty posted 13 points, five rebounds and three assists. The junior paired 14 points, including 4-6 from deep, with five rebounds as the Blue and White topped Gwynedd-Mercy 80-68 to secure the top spot in the CSAC’s regular season standings.
Rafferty closed the week with a team-high 17 points in 23 minutes of action as the Cavaliers beat Rosemont 96-66. Rafferty was efficient of the offensive end collecting his points on 5-7 shooting, including 5-6 from three point range.
Rafferty has become one of the top shooters in the CSAC this season, ranking in the top 10 in five statistical categories. The junior ranks 9th in the league with 13.0 points per game. He leads the conference from the free throw line with a 0.902 percentage, fourth in three point shooting at 0.451 and 10th in overall field goal shooting at 0.491. He also knocks down 2.0 three pointers per game, sixth most in the league.
Rafferty and the Cavaliers will close their regular season on Wednesday when they visit Marywood University in Scranton, Pa. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
