Junior women’s soccer student-athlete Gabby Meck has been named Cabrini-Athletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 8.  Meck had a career day, as she led the Blue and White to its first win of the season.

The junior recorded a career-high five points in Cabrini’s 4-1 win over Gougher College on Saturday at Edith Robb Dixon Field.  Meck posted her first multi-goal game and added an assist in the victory.  

Meck’s assist came in the game’s first minute as she found sophomore Dana Peterson for an early 1-0 lead.  While the Cavaliers grabbed a 2-1 lead late in the second half, Meck put the game on ice with a pair of goals midway through the second half.

Sophomore Devon Miller found Meck in the 55th minute for the junior’s first tally of the year.  Less than six minutes later, Peterson returned the favor as Meck extended Cabrini’s lead to 4-1.

Meck’s five points rank her second on the team and give her 22 for her career, on eight goals and six helpers.

The Cavaliers (1-0-2) will return to action today as they make the short trip across Eagle Road to face Eastern University (0-2-1).  Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
