RADNOR, Pa. - Freshman basketball student-athlete Tyheim Monroe has been named the CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, January 18.
Monroe posted a game for the ages, as the Cavaliers topped Rosemont 103-70 at Nerney Field House. Â
The rookie hit 8-10 from the floor for 19 points and grabbed a career high 21 rebounds in just 26 minutes off the bench in the victory. The freshman also added three assists to the box score. Nine of Monroe's boards came on the offensive end, as the freshman nearly outrebounded the Ravens by himself.
Monroe ranks third on the team in points, averaging 11.3 points per game, while his 8.3 rebounds per game are good for second on the team and fourth in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. A team high 40 of the rookie's 125 rebounds have come on the offensive side of the floor. Monroe also ranks third on the team in blocks with nine and fourth in steals with 10.
The Cavaliers (9-7, 6-3 CSAC) will travel to Gwynedd Valley, Pa. on Wednesday to face Gwynedd Mercy (9-6, 4-4 CSAC). Game time is slated for 8 p.m.
