RADNOR, Pa. - Cabrini sophomore swimmer Todd Walker has been named the CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, February 15.
Walker led the men’s team to a third place finish at the 2015 AMCC Championships over the weekend. The sophomore set seven program records, including five individual marks.
The sophomore set new school records in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke in 54.04 and 1:59.53, respectively.
Walker also set program records in the 1,650 yard freestyle, scoring a second place finish with a final time of 17.45.40, and a 10:35.52 split for a new 1,000 yard freestyle record.
Walker, freshman Rich Giuliani and sophomores Bobby Schmidt and Hassan David Goines Jr. placed second in the 800 yard freestyle relay, setting a new program record of 7:24.43. The quartet got off to a great start, as Walker opened the first leg at record setting pace, breaking the program's 200 yard freestyle record in 1:47.51.
The sophomore also teamed with Giuliani and fellow freshmen Ryan Hagan and Andrew Michael Stasis, to earn a third place finish in the 200 yard medley relay in 1:40.61.
Walker will join Cabrini women's swimmers senior Morgan Griffith, sophomore Christina Melchiorre and freshmen Casey Merrill and Brooke Hagan in competing at the ECAC Championships, slated for Feb. 27-March 1 at the University of Pittsburgh.
