Freshman volleyball student-athlete Kelly Guarino has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 14. The rookie was instrumental in Cabrini’s of wins over Swarthmore and Rosemont last week.
In a 23-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-21 nonconference victory at Swarthmore, Guarino recorded her first double-double of the season, pairing 14 kills and 20 digs, both career highs. Guarino followed that with a six kill, 11 dig and five service ace performance in Cabrini’s 3-0 win over Rosemont.
Guarino ranks among the Blue and White’s leaders in several categories. The freshman ranks third with 126 kills and 187 digs. Her 25 service aces rank second, while her 14 blocks are fourth on the squad.
Guarino and the Cavaliers (18-4, 7-0 CSAC) will visit Aston, Pa. on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. to face Neumann University (15-9, 6-0 CAC) in a rematch of the 2011 and 2012 CSAC championship matches. Â
