Senior men’s basketball student-athlete Cory Lemons has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week. Lemons led the Cavaliers to a 1-1 week and a second place finish at the Papa John’s/Country Hearth Inn Tournament.
Lemons, a business administration major, displayed a solid overall game last week, averaging 16.5 points, 7.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals, while playing 80 of a possible 85 minutes.
In the tournament opener, Lemons recorded 18 points and seven assists in defeating Johns Hopkins 80-60. Lemons followed that with a 15 point, eight rebounds, eight assist performance in the tournament final against Centre College.
Lemons gave the Cavaliers its final lead of the game with a short jumper in the paint to give the Cavaliers a 57-56 lead with 2.8 seconds on the clock, before ultimately falling 69-67 in overtime.
On the season, Lemons, a preseason All-American, leads the #14 Cavaliers with 17.2 points per game. His 6.5 assists per game currently rank fourth in the nation, while his 5.3 rebounds per game rank third on the club.
The Blue and White (10-1) return to Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Saturday when they travel to Immaculata University to face the Mighty Macs. The men are scheduled to tip at 3:00 p.m. upon the conclusion of the Cabrini – Immaculata women’s contest.
