Junior field hockey student-athlete Jackie Neary has been selected as CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 12.
Neary was an integral part of the Cavaliers’ 4-3 come-from-behind victory over then No. 3 the College of New Jersey last week.
Leading 1-0 in the 11th minute, the junior found senior Taylor Mack on a penalty corner, extending the Cavaliers’ lead to 2-0.
Neary marked the scoring column in the 50th minute. Neary gathered the ball and dribbled through the Lions’ defense before depositing the ball in the net, leveling the score at 3-3.
Neary added a team high five shots, including four on goal, in Cabrini’s loss at Gettysburg.
On the season, Neary shares the team lead with three assists, while her two goals and seven total points rank third on the team.
Neary and the Cavaliers (2-4) will return to action on Saturday, when they visit No. 6 Salisbury. Game time is slated for 6pm.
