Sophomore women’s basketball student-athlete Brittany Sandone has been selected as CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 8, 2012.
Sandone paced the Cavaliers’ offense averaging 14.7 points, four rebounds, 2.3 assists, and one steal in 31 minutes of action as the Blue and White finished the week 1-2.
In Tuesday’s 67-38 win over Susquehanna, the sophomore recorded season highs in points and rebounds with 22 and eight. Sandone also recorded five assists and two steals. Sandone also led the Cavaliers with 13 points and three steals in Thursday’s loss at Widener.
On Saturday, the Educational Studies major scored all nine of her points in the second half to help the Cavaliers rally from a halftime deficit, before ultimately dropping their first CSAC game at Immaculata.
For the season, Sandone leads the Blue and White offensive attack with 11.6 points per game. Her 2.2 assists per game rank second on the squad. Defensively, Sandone swipes a team-high 2.0 steals per game.
The Cavaliers (6-6, 5-1 CSAC) travel down the Main Line tonight to face Rosemont College at 6:00 p.m. The ladies will return to Nerney Field House on Saturday when they host the Marywood Pacers. Tip is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
