For the second time this season, men’s basketball student-athlete Cory Lemons has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week. The senior led the #8 Cavaliers to a 2-0 week with wins over Gwynedd-Mercy and Baptist Bible College.
The business administration major posted of 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.5 steals in the victories. In 67 minutes of action, Lemons also committed just 3 turnovers.
In Wednesday’s 78-73 home win over Gwynedd-Mercy, Lemons narrowly missed his first career triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists while playing 39 minutes.
His final assist came with under 90 seconds to play when he hit Fran Rafferty in the corner for the eventual game-winning three-pointer.
On Saturday, Lemons exploded at Baptist Bible College. The senior tallied 27 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals in just 28 minutes on the floor. Lemons shot 10-16 from the floor, including 5-7 from beyond the arc, in Cabrini's 93-70 road win.
On the year, Lemons leads the Cavaliers with 17.1 points per game. His 5.9 rebounds rank second on the team and his 6.8 assists per night is the third highest total in Division III.
Lemons and the Cavaliers (16-1, 11-0 CSAC) will try to extend their home CSAC win streak to 41 games on Wednesday when they host Immaculata University. The game is scheduled to begin at approximately 8:00 p.m. following the ladies game.
