Sophomore women’s basketball student-athlete MaryKate McCann has been selected as this week’s CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week. McCann’s all-around game was on display in the Cavaliers’ three games during the week of January 23-29, 2012.
Though the Cavaliers fell short in the end, McCann was all over the court, averaging 8.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists in Cabrini’s three games. McCann also posted season best performances in rebounds and assists during the week.
The sophomore led the club with 12 points and grabbed six rebounds against Montclair State. Against Immaculata, McCann paired a game-high eight boards with five points, four assists, one block and one steal. She closed the week handing out a career-high seven assists and scoring eight points at Centenary.
The communication major is second on the team with 7.8 points per game. Her 2.8 assists lead the team, while her 3.9 rebounds per game rank fifth.
McCann and the Cavaliers return to the court on Wednesday, looking to avenge an earlier loss, when the Rosemont College Ravens visit Nerney Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
