Freshman Melanie Felkner has been selected for this week’s CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the week. Felkner helped the women’s swim team to a third place finish at last week’s AMCC Championship meet at Grove City College.
Felkner is one of the top swimmers in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, posting scores in the top ten of nine of the events over the course of the season, this past weekend was no different.
The first day of the AMCC Championships, Felkner helped the 200-yard freestyle relay to a second place finish with a time of 1:48.54.
On the second day of AMCC Championships, Felkner won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:11.87 and followed that up with a second place finished in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.83.
Felkner also helped Cabrini’s relay team consisting of senior Lauren Sliva, sophomore Breaghann Smith, and freshman Becki Barrett to second place finishes in the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley with times of 8:47.82 and 2:04.54 respectively.
In the final day of competition Felkner didn’t let up by continuing her previous days dominance with a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:26.63. The rookie also helped the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a second place finish with a time of 3:55.84
