Freshman men’s basketball student-athlete Aaron Walton-Moss has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week. Walton-Moss posted two double-doubles in helping the Cavaliers advance to the school’s first ever Final Four on Friday.
In Friday’s 72-65 Sweet 16 win over Eastern Connecticut State, the freshman led the Cavaliers with 15 points, 14 rebounds and two steals while playing 36 minutes off the bench.
Walton-Moss continued his hot play on Saturday’s Elite Eight win. The Camden, N.J. native posted his fifth consecutive double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds. The rookie also recorded four steals en route to Cabrini’s 78-58 win over Scranton.
Walton-Moss has been one of the driving forces in Cabrini’s postseason run. During the Blue and White’s six games in the CSAC and NCAA Tournaments, Walton-Moss has posted 17.3 points and 13.7 rebounds while playing just shy of 30 minutes per game. He is shooting 62% from the floor and recording two steals per contest.
Walton-Moss and the Cavaliers will head to Salem, Va. for the school’s first ever appearance in the NCAA Final Four. The Blue and White will face Illinois Wesleyan University in Friday’s first national semifinal at 6:00 p.m. The 8:00 p.m. night cap will feature the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater against MIT. The winners will meet in Saturday’s National Championship game.
