Senior men’s basketball student-athlete John Boyd was named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 18. Boyd averaged 26 points in Cabrini’s NCAA Final Four and Championship games.
Boyd picked a great time for a career high, as the senior posted 34 points in Cabrini’s thrilling 81-78 Final Four win over Illinois Wesleyan. The senior also tied a career best with seven made three pointers.
Boyd completed his stat line with three rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and two steals in 34 minutes.
The marketing major also led the Cavaliers with 18 points in Saturday’s NCAA Championship game. Boyd shot 6-9, including 3-5 from three point range, and recorded two steals.
Boyd was named to NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team.
Boyd finished his career with 1334 total points, including 761 in Cabrini’s Blue and White.
Boyd was the Cavaliers’ third leading scorer in 2011-12 with 11.8 points. He also led the team with 12 blocked shots and third in steals with 38.
