Senior softball student-athlete Sammy Thompson has been named CabriniAtheltics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 1, 2012.
The senior hit .421 for the Cavaliers last week, including a combined 7-8 against Philadelphia Biblical.
Thompson batted 8-19 as the Blue and White went 2-4 during the week. The senior also posted five RBI’s while scoring six runs.
In the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader sweep of PBU, Thompson recorded her third perfect game at the plate, going 4-4 with a double, triple, four RBI’s and three runs scored.
The senior went 3-4 in the nightcap with another triple and three runs scored.
On the season, Cabrini’s shortstop boasts the third highest batting average on the team at .415. Her 34 hits and 32 runs scored lead the club, while her 16 RBI’s rank second.
Cabrini (11-13, 6-4 CSAC) will travel to Rosemont College on Monday to face the Ravens for a conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
