Women’s lacrosse student-athlete Jacky McDermott has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 15. McDermott’s 10 points led the Cavaliers to a 1-1 week.
McDermott recorded career highs of five goals and six points in Cabrini’s 19-16 loss at FDU – The College at Florham. Three of those points came in the game’s first eight minutes as the Blue and While built an early 3-0 lead.
Minutes later, the senior’s third goal of the game ended a run of four consecutive Devils’ goals, tying the score at four. McDermott’s two second half tallies were keys to Cabrini’s comeback, cutting their deficit to 16-14 midway through the second half.
On Saturday, McDermott’s three goals and one assist helped the Blue and White to a big 17-9 win over Neumann University. The senior opened the game’s scoring less than three minutes into action. Her third tally came with 24 seconds remaining in the first half, sending Cabrini into the half with a 10-5 lead.
On the season, McDermott’s 23 points are tied for fourth on the team, while her 10 assist rank second.
The Cavaliers women’s lacrosse team (5-8, 5-1 CSAC) will travel to Allentown, Pa. today to face Cedar Crest College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
