Freshman women’s lacrosse student-athlete Sara Carzo was named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 6. 

Carzo was named Most Valuable Player after helping lead the Cavaliers to the 2012 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship.

In Cabrini’s 16-13 semifinal win over Gwynedd-Mercy, Carzo tallied three points on a goal and two assists.  The rookie also caused four turnovers.   

The rookies followed that with a career best performance in the Blue and White's 19-16 championship game victory.  Carzo posted six points and four goals as the Cavaliers defeated Marywood for the title.  Carzo converted just four shots into her four scores.

On the season, Carzo ranks fifth on the team with 34 points, including 26 goals.  The freshman also ranks fifth with 15 caused turnovers, while scooping 24 ground balls and securing 22 draw controls.

Carzo and the Cavaliers will appear in the program’s ninth NCAA Tournament on Wednesday.  Cabrini will travel to Gettysburg College to face the #3 Bullets on Wednesday afternoon.  The action is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
