Senior women’s soccer student-athlete Dana Drake has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 30.
Drake’s last minute goal helped the Cavaliers remain unbeaten in Colonials States Athletics Conference play.
After starting each of the first nine games of the season, Drake picked an opportune time to tally her first goal of the season and 10th of her career.
Trailing 1-0 in the 89th minute of Saturday’s CSAC match at Gwynedd-Mercy, sophomore Melissa Scanzano found Drake in the middle of the Griffins’ penalty area. Drake fired the shot into the back of the net, tying the score at one.
The clubs battled through a pair of 10 minute overtime periods before settling for a 1-1 tie.
On the year, Drake has recorded one goal on five shots.
The Cavaliers (3-5-1, 2-0-2 CSAC) will return to action on Saturday when they welcome the Baptist Bible College Defenders to Edith Robb Dixon Field. The action is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
