Women’s swimming student-athlete Breaghann Smith has been named Cabrini Athletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 2.
The junior notched a pair of individual event wins at the Bryn Mawr College Tri-Meet. Smith won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:56.62. Later in the meet, Smith recorded a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, with a time of 5:49.61.
Smith then swam in seven events at last weekend’s Swarthmore College Invitational. The junior finished the one mile freestyle in 19:58.23 and 11th in the 200-yard freestyle, with a time of 2:10.88. Smith recorded an 11th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 28.05 seconds. She also placed 20th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.86.
Smith also participated in three relay events, in which her teams took fourth place. Smith joined Courtney Good, Jeanine Kohlbecker and Alexis Drew in both the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays, reaching the wall in 2:10.40 and 4:46.46, respectively. Along with Good, Drew and Maryellen Jerram also teamed to finish fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:12.26.
Smith and the Cavaliers will take a break from competition to focus on training for the season's stretch run. Their next competition is scheduled for Saturday, January 12 when they travel to Widener University. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
