Cabrini College men’s basketball student-athlete Jeremy Knowles has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending, Sunday, March 3. The senior led the Cavaliers to a first round NCAA Tournament win on Saturday.
This marks the second time this season that Knowles has claimed the honor. He was also named Student of the Week for the week ending January 27, a week in which the senior averaged 13.7 points, including a career best 29 points, in wins over Baptist Bible, Centenary adn Keystone.
Knowles scored a team-high 24 points off the bench as the Blue and White held on to beat No. 12 Hampden-Sydney College 80-78 in Saturday’s NCAA Tournament opener. The senior connected on 8-16 from the floor, including 6-13 from three point range. Two of Knowles’ career high six three pointers came in a crucial 14-0 run midway through the first half that gave the Cavaliers a 33-19 lead. Knowles also added four rebounds and three steals to his stat line.
On the season, Knowles ranks third on the team in both points and rebounds, with 12.7 and 5.0, respectively. His 2.2 assists per contest are third on the club.
Knowles and the Cavaliers will against hit the road for their second round match-up on Saturday. The Blue and White will visit Delaware, Ohio to face No. 21 Ohio Wesleyan University (23-5). Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
