Cabrini softball student-athlete Marcelle Crist has been selected as CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 17. The senior hurler led the Blue and White to a pair of wins last week.
Crist was solid in the pitcher’s circle and at the plate as Cabrini posted its first wins of the 2013 campaign. She posted a 2-0 record with 15 strike outs in 13 innings. Crist allowed six hits and did not surrender an earned run. The senior also tallied three hits in five at bats, walking three times on the week.
On Friday, Crist threw a complete game as the Cavaliers topped Rosemont College 6-2. The Ravens mustered just four hits and struck out six times. The senior reached base three times in four plate appearance, recording a bas knock and a pair of free passes.
In Saturday’s 8-3 win at Notre Dame (Md.) University, the hurler tossed six inning of shut-down relief, allowing just two hits and striking out nine, Just one Gator reached second and none reached third. At the dish, Crist went 2-3, with a walk, and scored twice.
On the season, Crist leads the Cavalier offense with a 0.455 batting average. Her four base on balls also top the club. In the circle, the senior boasts a 1.96 earned run average, with 23 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched.
Crist and the Cavaliers (3-4, 3-0 CSAC) will return to action on Thursday when they visit Cairn University for a CSAC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Langhorne, Pa.
