Cabrini softball student-athlete Kaitlyn Cooper has been named CabriniAtheltics.com Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, March 24. The freshman helped the Cavaliers extend their current win streak to seven games with four wins on the week.
Cooper led the Blue and White at the plate with a .500 batting average for the week with seven base hits, including her first career home run. The rookie scored five runs and knocked in two more, while swiping three bases. Defensively, Cooper posted a .957 fielding percentage for the week, including 16 assists from her shortstop position.
In the Cavaliers’ 7-2 and 3-1 wins at Cairn University, Cooper recorded two base knock and a stolen base in each game. The freshman then went 3-7 with two RBI and four runs scored, including the round tripper, in the Blue and White’s 3-1 and 9-4 wins over Baptist Bible College.
On the season, Cooper's .359 batting average ranks fourth on the team, while her 14 hits are tied for second. The rookie leads the club with 10 runs scored and is second with six RBI.
Cooper and the Cavaliers (7-4, 5-0 CSAC) will look for their eighth consecutive win on Wednesday as they face Notre Dame (Md.) University in a game that was rained out on March. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Hartford Community College in Bel Air, Md.
