Women’s lacrosse student-athlete Melissa Scanzano has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 21. The sophomore led the Blue and White to a pair of wins with a total of 11 points, as the Cavaliers clinched their 10th undefeated conference schedule and the top seed in next week's CSAC Tournament.
Scanzano matched a season high with five points on three goals and two assists in the Cavaliers’ 18-8 win over Immaculata. She then matched a career high with six points in Cabrini’s 19-1 win at Rosemont, pairing four goals with a career best two helpers. The sophomore also tallied five ground balls, four caused turnovers and seven draw controls on the week.
On the season, Scanzano ranks second on the team with 36 goals, including 7-13 in free position shots, while her 47 points rank fifth. Her 22 caused turnovers lead the team and her 40 ground balls and 39 draw controls rank among team leaders.
Scanzano and the Cavaliers (9-6) will close their regular season on Thursday as they visit No. 9 The College of New Jersey. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
