Freshman women’s lacrosse student-athlete Sasha Wozniak has been named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 13. Wozniak was instrumental in helping the Cavaliers extended their win streak to nine games.
In two games last week, Wozniak paced the Blue and White with 13 points on 10 goals and three assists. The rookie matched a season high with eight points on five goal and three assists in a 19-6 win over the Mighty Macs. Wozniak also recorded a season high six draw controls and caused a turnover.
Due to an academic commitment, Wozniak played just the first half of Saturday's 17-9 win over Neumann, netting five first half goals to put Cabrini up 14-2 at the half. Her five goals came on just seven shots, including 3-3 in free position shots. Wozniak also recorded three ground balls, caused two turnovers and controlled one draw.
Wozniak currently leads the Cavaliers with 39 goals, while her 49 points and 10 assists are second. The rookie ranks third in the Colonial States Athletic Conference in points and goals and eighth in assists. The freshman also ranks second on the team with 29 draw controls and fourth with 26 ground balls.
Wozniak and the Cavaliers (9-2) return to action on Tuesday night as they visit the University of Scranton.
