RADNOR, Pa. - Cabrini junior women’s soccer student-athlete Dana Peterson has been named the CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, November 9.
On Wednesday, Peterson helped the Cavaliers score a 2-1 win over Marywood in the semifinal round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament. The junior netted the game's first goal in the 82nd minute of play, as the blue and white advanced to its fourth consecutive league championship match.
On Saturday, Cabrini faced the Centenary College Cyclones in the CSAC Championship and emerged with a 2-0 shutout victory to claim its fourth consecutive conference title.
Peterson, who was also named the championship match Most Valuable Player, scored the eventual game winning goal in the 82nd minute, as she was in the scoring end of a corner kick by senior Gabby Meck.
On the year, Peterson leads the team with 11 goals and is tied with classmate Devon Miller with a team high 23 points The junior finished fourth in the CSAC in goals and is tied with Miller for fifth place in the conference in the points column.
The Blue and White (14-6) will put its 11 match win streak on the line in Saturday as it visits former PAC rival, No. 13 Misericordia University (17-2-1), in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
