Senior field hockey student-athlete Maura Gordon has been selected as this week’s CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for her on-field performances between October 10-16, 2011.
The exercise science and health promotion major recorded two goals and three assists in Cabrini’s defeats of Delaware Valley College, Cedar Crest College, and Keystone College.
At the 53:18 mark of the Delaware Valley game, Gordon notched her second goal of the game. It was her fourth multi-goal game of the season, but perhaps the most memorable. It was that goal that pushed her over the 100 Career Point Plateau.
Gordon joins teammate and fellow senior Lauren Alessi as two of less than 20 current, active Division III field hockey players to have surpassed the career milestone.
The senior’s 23 points this season currently rank 6th in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). Her eight goals and seven assists also rank numbers seven and three, respectively.
Gordon was also named CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 18, 2011.
The Cavaliers (9-8, 4-1 CSAC) will welcome Notre Dame of Maryland University to Edith Robb Dixon Field this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
